Md. Aktaruzzaman Sarker

Md. Aktaruzzaman Sarker is a seasoned banker, technology leader and risk management specialist whose professional life has been devoted to bridging the gap between financial institutions and entrepreneurs. With more than twenty-seven years of professional experience, including over two decades in the banking sector, he has worked across credit operations, loan assessment, recovery management, internal audit, compliance and information security. Throughout his career he has reviewed hundreds of loan files, visited businesses in the field, evaluated borrowers’ repayment capacity and guided clients through the complexities of banking procedures. This rare combination of credit, audit and practical operational exposure allows him to understand both sides of the lending relationship: how banks think and how business owners struggle to communicate their potential. The insights shared in this book come directly from real situations he encountered while dealing with loan approvals, problem loans, and successful entrepreneurs. Mr. Sarker has held senior leadership roles in leading financial institutions, including serving as Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Head of ICT Security and Head of IT Audit functions, where he strengthened governance, compliance and risk management frameworks. He has also contributed to core banking implementation, digital transformation initiatives and development of internal policies and audit systems aligned with international standards. Academically, he holds an MBA in Banking from the University of Dhaka, a Master’s in Industrial & Production Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BUET. He is professionally certified in information systems audit, cybersecurity and risk management, including CISA, CEH and ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor. More importantly, beyond titles and qualifications, he is an educator at heart. He has trained bankers, auditors and business professionals on banking operations, IT security and risk awareness. His passion is simple: to remove fear, confusion and misinformation surrounding bank financing.
